We're truly independent
Experience the difference of working at a 100% employee-owned consultancy. Without external shareholders or conflicting interests, we’re free to make decisions based purely on what’s right – technically, ethically, and commercially. Your expertise won’t be compromised by hidden agendas or short-term thinking.
We innovate with purpose
Bring your creativity to challenges that demand fresh thinking. We don’t innovate for innovation’s sake – we develop practical solutions that help clients maintain profitability in tight-margin environments. You’ll work with colleagues who get excited about finding that unexpected approach that makes all the difference.
We value your time

Where we work
We offer flexibility to support how you work best. Typically, team members work from home two days a week (you choose which days), with the remainder spent in one of our offices where we collaborate, problem-solve, and build relationships. Whether you’re based in our vibrant Brighton location steps from the sea, our tranquil Wallingford riverside setting, our connected Aberdeen hub, or remote working, you’ll have the environment you need to perform at your best.
Aberdeen: Modern hub in the heart of the energy sector
Brighton: City center location minutes from the seafront
Edinburgh/SQ office: Charming town nestled along the River Tweed
Wallingford: Riverside setting in the Oxfordshire countryside
Remote: Flexibility to work where you perform best

Social and Community
At Ternan, we believe that the best teams connect beyond their project work. Twice a year, our entire company comes together for team events combining professional development with memorable experiences. From live music gigs in Brighton to boat trips exploring the Rampion wind farm, these gatherings strengthen our connections.
Day-to-day, our office social representatives organise local activities tailored to each location’s team preferences. In Brighton, we enjoy monthly team lunches where each colleague takes turns choosing the restaurant, while our baking traditions have become legendary among staff. We’re also extending our community impact through initiatives like charity walking challenges and coastal beach clean-ups, reflecting our commitment to the environments where we work.
