Your site investigations, with our experts onboard
The data gathered on site investigations has a huge impact on your future commercial decisions. Let one of our experts join your survey vessel to make sure your surveys are executed in accordance with the agreed specification, scope of work and contracts – with your best interests front and centre.
Site surveys require flawless execution. Let’s make sure that’s exactly what happens.
It’s fair to say they are crucial. The geotechnical and geophysical surveys that take place on a potential development site inform every onward phase of your project. They can even determine whether you choose to develop a site or walk away completely. In short: the outcome of your surveys has a huge bearing on your commercial decision making. That’s a lot of faith to put in the crew of an outsourced survey vessel.
We can act as an expert interface between your business and your survey vessel – placing one of our experts on board to make sure the survey is executed in accordance with the agreed specification, scope of work and contracts. Your representative can also provide real-time feedback on preliminary findings, while issuing technical engineering support if issues arise. And it’s all backed up with 24/7 support from our onshore experts.
It’s not just on the vessel that we can provide survey support. With the provision of an SI package manager, we provide an expert engineer to manage the delivery of your geotechnical/geophysical site investigation package – either from your office or your contractor’s. So you can be sure you obtain the reliable data you need at the first time of asking. Without the need for costly additional surveys.
Types of survey we can support:
Geotechnical site investigation
Provision of offshore client representatives

Hydrographic surveys
Provision of Site investigation package managers

FAQs
Why does representation on a vessel matter?
Marine survey vessels are expensive. It goes without saying that you don’t want to waste your money. That’s why we offer to act as an interface between you and your contractor – making sure the right data is being captured in the right way, in line with the agreed scope of work and your best commercial interests.
Why is it important that Ternan Energy is independent?
We have no vested interests. No stakeholders. (We are employee owned.) And there’s no referring you to parent or partner companies for work that you don’t need. We give our clients honesty – and always work towards the best possible outcomes for their projects. We can do the same for you.
What’s the project dashboard?
Once a survey is complete, it can take weeks – sometimes months – for the data to be visualised in a ground model. We have developed software that provides you with a preliminary visualisation of your site data – such as bathymetry and seabed composition – in as little as 24 hours. It also displays survey progress in near real time, giving you extra reassurance that your survey is being conducted as planned. Ask us for more information.
Any other ways you can help?
Let us review your contractor deliverables – borehole and CPT logs, for example. Or oversee post-fieldwork laboratory scheduling and testing. We can even provide live cable trenching support – delivering a live assessment of future risk to the cable while first-pass trenching is underway.
How do you choose your representatives?
We maintain a small global network of trusted geotechnical and geophysical engineering experts. These professionals have been vetted thoroughly by us to make sure they have the right knowledge, skills and experience. In short: to be good enough for you, they have to be good enough for us.
Any questions?
Just ask.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a project, it’s easy to get in touch.
